I wanted to explain why I chose to do this blog. This children’s garden is a monumental project for many parties. It is the first project for UT with the Wildflower Center. It is the first large scale project for the Wildflower Center since their inception. It is the first pre-pilot project for the Wildflower Center and TBG incorporating the Sustainable Sites Initiative. It is one of the most unique sustainable projects for TBG and myself to work on. I thought that it was important to document this journey throughout the project’s life not only to share the experience, but educate others on our successes and failures and see the the guts of this project and not just the final product. It’s like seeing a beautiful and majestic live oak. There is so much happening underground that you cannot see…..so much that has brought that oak to where it is today. There is a Chinese proverb that describes this project nicely: One generation plants the trees; another gets the shade. Thank you for being with us on this journey.
